The Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) has announced the appointment of Dr. M. S. Parmar as its new Director General, effective 8th May 2025. A distinguished textile scientist and former Director of NITRA, Dr. Parmar will also oversee the NITRA Technical Campus (NTC), the academic wing of the organization based in Ghaziabad.
With over 32 years of dedicated service to NITRA, Dr. Parmar has played a pivotal role in advancing textile research and innovation. He is a recognized expert in textile chemistry, protective textiles, unconventional fibres, and quality control. Throughout his career, he has filed 15 patents (five granted), led 28 government and industry-sponsored projects, and authored or co-authored 17 books.
Dr. Parmar’s academic and professional contributions include delivering 140 technical presentations, publishing 137 articles in national and international journals, and mentoring 48 students across Ph.D., M.Sc., M.Tech., and B.Tech. programs. His work has earned him numerous accolades, especially for his recent innovations in thermal clothing for extreme cold conditions.
For his significant contributions to the textile industry, Dr. Parmar was awarded the prestigious “Honorary Fellowship of The Textile Association (Hon. F.T.A.)” for the year 2022–2023.
