Lee Goldup Exits Burberry to Launch Independent Fashion Consultancy

Lee Goldup, Burberry’s Global Director of Buying and Merchandising, has stepped down from the British heritage brand after a year in the role. In a LinkedIn announcement, Goldup unveiled his next chapter—the launch of Lee Goldup Consulting, a new venture dedicated to advising brands, retailers, and emerging designers on product, strategy, and growth.

Goldup first joined Burberry as Director of Digital Curation before taking on the global buying and merchandising portfolio. With over 13 years of senior leadership experience, he brings a wealth of industry expertise to his consultancy. His career highlights include serving as Head of Buying and Retail at Danish brand Wood Wood and spending more than six years as a menswear buyer at Browns Fashion.

His exit comes amid Burberry’s ongoing leadership reshuffle as the company pushes forward with its turnaround strategy. Despite reporting annual losses, the label has recently shown the first signs of recovery, though sales challenges remain.

With Lee Goldup Consulting, Goldup aims to leverage his industry insights to help shape the future of global fashion buying and merchandising.
