Bangladesh garment workers set to get USD 95 as minimum wage: Reports

As per media reports, Bangladesh’s Minimum Wage Board has finalised its proposal of setting BDT 8,000 or USD 95 as minimum monthly wage. It is expected that the new wages would be applicable from December onwards, said State Minister for Labour Md Mujibul Haque.

The wage raise notification was released on October 8 this year, seeking written recommendations within 14 days.

Trade union federations in the country had submitted over 12 letters to the board and factory owners individually submitted more than 300 applications, according to media reports. The Minimum Wage Board has reportedly overlooked the suggestions.

More inputs on the matter will be shared as and when received. Stay tuned!
