Germany’s Hohenstein Institute opens textile testing laboratory in Bangladesh

Hohenstein Institute, an accredited test laboratory and research institute based in Boennigheim, Germany, has extended its global testing services with a new laboratory in the manufacturing hub of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Recently, the laboratory was inaugurated by Professor Stefan Mecheels, the third generation to lead the family-run company. “Hohenstein is all about proximity to the customer and German quality. In Bangladesh, we are in close contact with our laboratories in Germany and Hong Kong,” said Mecheels.

It took six months for the Institute to launch the cutting-edge laboratory equipped with high-quality analysis tools to offer a broad range of chemical and textile testing technology and results analysis for textile manufacturers, brands and retailers. Also, testing for harmful material, performance tests, quality controls (colour fastness, pilling, water tightness, fibre fineness, etc.), and inspections will also be performed at the lab.

Notably, the laboratory has commenced operations with 30 local staff, to begin with.
