Fashion Courses Launched For Young Guns in India

India’s Union Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani has launched five-short term courses at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Panchkula via a video session from New Delhi.

The building will be constructed by June 2020.

For now, until the final building gets ready, the temporary campus will be functional in Polytechnic-cum-Multi Skill Training Centre in Sector 26 Panchkula.

The campus is constructed in collaboration with the Department of Technical Education, Government of Haryana.

Smriti Irani urged NIFT to introduce special projects which involve the study of Suraj Kund Craft Mela and made up industry in Haryana. She stressed that the new enrollments will be able to understand the process of entrepreneurship along with learning new technology.

The one-year Certificate Programmes launched by the Textile Industry includes:

Fashion Clothing & Technology

Design Development for Indian Ethnic Wear

Fashion & Media Communication

Textile for Interiors & Fashion

Fashion Knitwear Production and Technology

Fashion Clothing and Technology

The Programmes that are being offered does not have an age limit.

For being eligible to apply for the course, the candidate is required to be 12th pass.

The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of entrance examination followed by an interview by NIFT. The total number of students that will be provided admission is 30.

These programmes will provide experiential learning to the students through industry visits nearby for students to be well prepared before taking up a job.
