Monika Solanki has been appointed Assistant Director General at the Wool Industry Export Promotion Council (WOOLTEXPRO), marking a significant addition to the organisation’s leadership team and bringing with her valuable experience in events, finance, export promotion and the wool and woollens sector.
Solanki previously served for around four years as Manager – Events & Finance at the Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. During her tenure, she was involved in the council’s events and financial operations, gaining extensive exposure to the functioning of the textile export promotion ecosystem and engagement with industry stakeholders.
Her move to WOOLTEXPRO comes at a time when India’s wool and woollen industry is looking to strengthen its global presence, expand international market opportunities and create greater visibility for Indian manufacturers and exporters.
In her new role as Assistant Director General, Solanki is expected to contribute to WOOLTEXPRO’s activities related to industry engagement, export promotion, trade events, international business development and coordination with stakeholders across the wool value chain.
Her previous experience with the Ministry of Textiles-linked export promotion council provides her with a strong understanding of the requirements of exporters, government-industry coordination and the importance of international trade platforms in developing India’s textile exports.
The appointment is also expected to support WOOLTEXPRO’s efforts to build stronger connections between Indian wool and woollen companies and overseas buyers, while promoting the capabilities of India’s wool industry in international markets.
With her combined experience in events, finance, export promotion and industry coordination, Solanki is positioned to play an important role in strengthening WOOLTEXPRO’s engagement with the domestic industry as well as international trade stakeholders.
The Indian wool and woollen sector has significant potential across apparel, home textiles, yarns, fabrics and value-added products. As global buyers increasingly seek diversified sourcing destinations and sustainable natural fibres, stronger export promotion initiatives could provide new opportunities for Indian wool manufacturers and exporters.
