Chirag Shah has been promoted to Assistant Vice President at Reliance Retail, marking a significant milestone in his dynamic career spanning over two decades in retail management, category leadership, and merchandising strategy. In his new role, Chirag continues to be based in Navi Mumbai, where he plays a pivotal role in driving category growth, profitability, and strategic transformation for one of India’s largest retail organizations.
At Reliance Retail, Chirag has been instrumental in leading assortment planning, strengthening vendor partnerships, and implementing data-driven decision-making processes that have enhanced business performance and operational efficiency. He has also been a key contributor to format transformation and inventory optimization initiatives, reinforcing the company’s commitment to customer-centric growth and agile retail innovation.
Before his current role, Chirag served as General Manager at Reliance Retail, where he successfully led the Apparel and Non-Apparel categories with a business size exceeding ₹1,200 crore. His leadership was marked by a strategic focus on sales expansion, brand onboarding, process optimization, and team development. His ability to align merchandising, marketing, and retail operations enabled the business to deliver strong profitability and improved market presence.
Prior to joining Reliance Retail, Chirag held the position of Chief Category Head – Apparel & Non-Apparel at Brand Factory, part of the Future Group, where he managed multiple categories including apparel, footwear, beauty, and accessories. He played a key role in retail buying, vendor negotiations, assortment planning, and store rollouts across India, driving category innovation and brand growth.
Earlier in his career, he held diverse leadership roles within Future Group, including Brand Manager for Converse at Planet Sports and Manager – Operations and Business Planning at Future Retail Ltd., contributing significantly to brand expansion, product lifecycle management, and profitability enhancement. Chirag’s journey also includes early stints at ITC Wills Lifestyle, Big Bazaar, and Standard Chartered Bank, where he built a foundation in customer service, operations, and retail excellence.
