To produce the next generation of sustainable fashion an innovative project that incorporates the latest technology, perfect combination of digitalisation processes with maximum standards for a sustainable global production has been initiated in Germany by C&A.
C&A will set up a clothing factory in the city of Mönchengladbach that will focus on sustainable production techniques. The facility will employ one hundred people.
Initially the factory will be producing jeans, in the German town of Mönchengladbach.
The project will be called Factory for Innovation in Textiles (FIT.
The forecast is that it will be open in autumn 2021.
C&A has been one of the great pioneering fashion distribution groups in the development of a sustainability strategy .
Sustainability is also one of the pillars of the rebranding that the chain carried out last year, when it adopted a new logo and the Wear the Change claim .
The company, which already uses 50% sustainable materials, is one of the largest consumers of organic cotton in the world. The group has almost 1,400 stores in 18 countries and some 31,000 employees and is owned by Cofra Holding.
The big benchmark for relocation has so far been Adidas, which started up two fully automated factories in Ansbach (Germany) and Atlanta (United States), although both closed in 2020 .
