Major Boost for Textile Sector: Ministry of Textiles Revises PLI Scheme

The Ministry of Textiles has announced key revisions to its flagship Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, aiming to expand its reach, simplify application, and provide greater flexibility for investors. These changes are designed to stimulate new investments, particularly in the high-value Man-Made Fibre (MMF) segment, and cement India’s position in the global textile value chain.

Expanded Scope and Coverage

A major revision involves significantly broadening the product categories eligible for incentives:

MMF Apparel: The scheme now includes 8 new HSN codes for Man-Made Fibre Apparel, opening up the incentive structure to a wider range of finished garments.

MMF Fabrics: Similarly, the coverage for MMF Fabrics has been expanded with the addition of 9 new HSN codes.

This expansion acknowledges the increasing global demand for technical textiles and MMF products, encouraging domestic manufacturers to diversify their portfolios.
