Introducing WEFT: A new way of creating, discovering and purchasing high-quality woven fabrics

Material ConneXion is a materials consultancy that helps companies source advanced materials to enhance the performance, aesthetics and sustainability of their projects and establish a direct contact with manufacturers. Material ConneXion maintains the world’s largest subscription-based materials library, with thousands of innovative materials and processes across all disciplines of design – an indispensable asset to a wide audience of users.

Emerging from years of university research and the animated film industry, Weft, is a web application that allows designers to transform ideas into intricately patterned woven cloth within weeks and discover our collection of original textiles. The software communicates directly with state of the art, high-speed Jacquard looms, which can weave quantities as small as 3 yds (9 feet) for shipping in three weeks or less.

The company also provides an in-house catalog of designs and designer collaborations, as well as a library of unique customizable designs. Applications include upholstery, drapery, apparel and accessories.

With an established technology platform and access to leading research that includes 3D rendering tools, Weft is positioned to be the leader in textile simulation, allowing direct access to the means of production and establishing a new language for interaction between designers and manufacturers.
