UP Govt. Organises B2B Exhibition to Promote Readymade Garment Sector

ODOP: One District One Product Udyam Samagam gathering of industrialists of Gautambudh Nagar was recently held at Expo Centre DIC Gautam Budh Nagar in collaboration with the IIA Noida Chapter and MSME. Honorable State Minister MSME, UP Sri Udaibhan Singh inaugurated the event on 10th october and the Cabinet Minister MSME, UP Sri Siddhartha Nath Singh concluded the exhibition on 11th Oct 2019.

The UP Govt.’s One District-One Product scheme aims to encourage such indigenous and specialized products and crafts in UP that are found nowhere else – like the ancient and nutritious ‘Kala Namak’ rice, the rare and intriguing wheat-stalk craft, world-famous chikankari and zari-zardozi work on clothes, and the intricate and stunning horn-bone work that uses the remains of dead animals rather than live ones, a nature-friendly replacement for ivory.

Rajeev Bansal, MD Celestial knits and National Secretary IIA while explaining the motive behind the event shared with Team PS, “Under the ODOP scheme, the Govt. has given many free stalls to garment manufacturers from Noida area.

Govt has taken the initiative called ODOP, One district one product, under this scheme every district of UP has been identified by the special product it is manufacturing. For example, Meerut for sports goods, Moradabad for bronze products and likewise the Gautam Buddha Nagar has been identified for readymade garments promoting products from all these regions.”

He further added. “For the next segment we would like to prepare well in advance and do more marketing and promotions for enhanced response and recognition of the event. We have also decided that the next time we would provide free hotel and flight tickets also to the buyers so that we can attract more visitors.

However, it was a good start and great initiative.” He mentioned that due to scarcity of time many exhibitors were not able to participate but the response is good and as presumed as an initiative taken by the UP Govt. I am happy by the amount of investment and interest in the event.”

Talking from an exhibitor’s point of view he said, “As an exhibitor I would say it was not a bad exhibition we haven’t lost anything if haven’t gained too much and the exhibition had a successful time considering the first edition,” he concluded.

At this b2b exhibition around 70 companies participated with range of men’s, ladies and kids wear range targeting the domestic market of India.
