Textiles Minister Smriti Irani Lays Foundation Stone For Textile Park, ZLD Plant

Indian Textile Minister Smriti Irani has laid the foundation stone for Karanj Textile Park in the manufacturing hub of Surat, Gujarat.

The Textile Park has the capacity of 40 weaving, knitwear and texturising units.

An investment of Rs. 300 crore will be made for the establishment of the Karanj Textile Park in Mandvi taluka.

Markedly, the Park is South Gujarat’s biggest textile park developed by the textile entrepreneurs.

The textile park was approved under Government of India’s Scheme of Integrated Textile Park (SITP). Employment will be given to over 1,500 people.

Additionally, the Karanj Textile Park is expected to generate more than Rs. 300 crore in revenue, Smriti Irani said.

Other than this, the Textile Minister also laid the foundation stone for 25 MLD ZLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for Textiles Processing at Gujarat Eco Textile Park in Surat.

44 units of Textile park will now recycle processed water, in that way curbing environmental hazard and saving livelihood of 15,000 workers.

“The waste water from CETP plant in Palsana will be recycled through the ZLD plant project where more than 92 percent of the quantity will be recycled and sent to park members for process requirement,” the Textiles Minister averred.
