Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Takes A Tour of Bharat Tex

Shri Narendra Modi, along with Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, visited many stalls at the Bharat Tex 2025 in New Delhi, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s textile and apparel sector.

The CMAI Pavilion featured leading Indian retail brands and apparel manufacturers, including Allen Solly, American Eagle, Arrow, Aurelia, Biba, Blackberrys, Calvin Klein, Flying Machine, Forever 21, House of Masaba, Jaypore, Manyavar, Pantaloons, Peter England, Reebok, Sabyasachi, Satya Paul, Superdry, Tasva by Tarun Tahiliani, Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, W for Woman, and Westside, among others

Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI, highlighted the shift towards sustainability and innovation, stating, “It is a moment of immense pride for CMAI to once again present the Brands of India Pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025. The presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh at our pavilion underscores the government’s strong support for India’s apparel sector. As a key pillar of employment and manufacturing, the apparel industry is driving India’s self-reliance vision. CMAI remains committed to empowering Indian apparel manufacturers, brands, and startups to compete on a global scale.

Tiruppur Cluster’s Recognition at Bharat Tex 2025

Tiruppur, known for its commitment to sustainability, stood out at the event. Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Tiruppur Exporters Association, appreciating the organic growth of the Tiruppur cluster and its ESG initiatives. A special moment was the PM’s recognition of Thiru Ppk Paramasivam, Chairman of SCM Garments Pvt Ltd, India, for his contributions to the industry.

Sustainable Innovations and Industry Collaborations

As sustainability becomes a priority, SVG Fashions has shifted to using recycled fibers in fabric production. At Bharat Tex 2025, SVG Fashions showcased a tracksuit made from recycled plastic bottle yarns, which was presented to Prime Minister Modi by Bhadresh Dodhia, Co-chairman of Bharat Tex 2025. This initiative highlights the impact of collaboration and innovation in sustainable textiles.

Kulin Lalbhai, Arvind Fashion, discussed India’s growing apparel opportunities with PM Modi, stating, “Global markets are looking beyond China, and India is poised to seize this opportunity. With our stable economy and strong global relationships, this is the time for India’s textile sector to scale up and create millions of jobs.”

Shripad Jagirdar, a key advocate for hemp textiles, emphasized the rising demand for sustainable materials, stating, “Hemp is no longer the fabric of the future—it’s the fabric of NOW! The overwhelming response at Bharat Tex 2025 proves that sustainability is here to stay.”

Bharat Tex 2025 reinforced India’s position as a global leader in textile manufacturing, innovation, and sustainability. With an unwavering commitment from industry leaders, manufacturers, and policymakers, the event set the stage for a future where India’s textile sector not only thrives but leads in global sustainability and economic impact.
