Rajat Khurana Elevated as Executive Officer at ASICS

Rajat Khurana, Managing Director of ASICS India, has been appointed as an Executive Officer at ASICS Corporation, reinforcing his growing influence within the global sportswear major.

Coming from a family of engineers, Khurana himself began his professional journey as a textile and apparel engineer. He started his career with Tata Group before moving on to work with Japanese trading major Marubeni Corporation in India. His association with Marubeni eventually led to a pivotal opportunity—establishing ASICS in the Indian market in 2013, laying the foundation for the brand’s presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing sportswear markets.

Speaking about the current industry landscape, Khurana noted that India’s performance sports category is witnessing a significant transformation. According to him, running has evolved from a niche activity into a mainstream fitness movement. Consumers today are far more health-conscious and informed, increasingly seeking high-quality, research-driven products that can genuinely enhance athletic performance.

Looking ahead, Khurana’s strategic priorities include deepening consumer engagement through greater participation in major running events and expanding community-led initiatives such as the OneASICS program. He is also focused on elevating the retail and digital experience through enhanced own-brand stores and customer support, while introducing science-backed product innovations aligned with the brand’s philosophy of Sound Mind, Sound Body.

Under Khurana’s leadership, ASICS India has steadily expanded its footprint and strengthened its positioning within the country’s rapidly evolving performance sportswear market. His new global role is expected to further contribute to the company’s international growth strategy while continuing to support its momentum in India.
