IEML & GTE Enters into New Strategic Alliance

A Partnership Woven with Purpose

In an exciting development for India’s textile and apparel sector, two giants have come together to redefine how the industry connects, grows, and innovates. India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML), the powerhouse behind some of the country’s most prominent trade shows, has announced a strategic partnership with Garment Technology Expo Pvt Ltd (GTE) — the name synonymous with garment machinery and manufacturing technology exhibitions for over 25 years.

In a press conference held at India Habitat Center, IEML and GTE addressed the press and media as a joint entity for the first time ever.

For over 25 years, GTE has served as a vital meeting ground for garment and textile industry professionals. From Delhi to Ahmedabad and Bangalore, the event has steadily grown in both reputation and reach. Under the continued leadership of Founder and Chairman Mr. Inderjit S. Sahni and Managing Director Mr. Ricky Sahni, GTE has become an important platform for garment manufacturers, suppliers, and technology providers.

Now, with the involvement of IEML—represented on the GTE board by Mr. Mukesh Gupta, Director, IEML and under the vision and guidance of Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML—the expo is set to undergo a new phase of strategic expansion.

Mr. Inderjit S. Sahni expressed optimism about the renewed partnership, stating that this new chapter will enable GTE to scale new heights and deliver even more impactful editions in the years to come. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting the partnership’s potential to expand the reach of GTE while also infusing advanced operational capabilities and technology-based enhancements to benefit exhibitors and visitors alike.

Let’s face it — exhibitions are no longer just about showcasing machines and shaking hands. Today’s industry needs smart platforms, cross-industry collaboration, and spaces where innovation can thrive. That’s precisely what this partnership aims to deliver.

By joining forces, GTE’s deep industry knowledge and long-standing community of exhibitors will be supercharged by IEML’s exceptional infrastructure and event expertise.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of IEML while addressing the press and media in an exclusive press conference said,

“GTE has long been a pillar of the garment technology community. Together, we aim to set new benchmarks—not just in scale, but in quality, innovation, and value. Our motto is to make this platform bigger and better covering all the segments and bringing all stakeholders at one place.”

He also informed that the show will see addition of some new product categories like textile machinery, fabrics and accessories, smart technologies, A.I. and many more.

Ricky Sahni, Joint MD, GTE

Ricky Sahni sharing his enthusiasm shared, “ It is definitely a new innings for us and we are optimistic that this will bring new accolades for the industry at large.”

The collaboration is expected to bring transformative changes to GTE, including expanded venues, increased participation, and a more dynamic event experience. With IEML’s deep expertise in managing large-scale trade events and its presence in major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow, GTE will now have the infrastructure and support to reach newer markets and engage with a broader spectrum of industry professionals.

The upcoming editions of GTE reflect this ambition. The next exhibition will take place in Ahmedabad from November 7–9, 2025, followed by the flagship annual show at India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida from March 20–23, 2026. These events promise to bring together a wide range of exhibitors, showcase cutting-edge garment manufacturing technologies, and foster valuable business connections across India and beyond. The last edition of GTE, hosted at IEML, drew more than 12,500 trade visitors from 20 countries, spanning an exhibition area of 12,000 square meters—an indication of the show’s strong and growing relevance.

Looking ahead, the partnership will not only broaden the physical footprint of the show but also enrich its content and engagement. Attendees can expect smarter participation tools, digitally enhanced interactions, and a stronger focus on sustainability, automation, and smart manufacturing. Comprehensive conference programs, expert-led workshops, and technical seminars will further strengthen GTE’s role as a knowledge-sharing platform.

This strategic alliance represents more than just a business move—it’s a commitment to shaping the future of India’s garment and textile sector. As both organizations pool their strengths, the Garment Technology Expo is set to become not just a bigger event, but a more meaningful one—one that offers real value, sparks innovation, and supports the modernization of one of India’s most vital industries.

The partnership will facilitate a larger exhibition footprint by extending GTE to different cities, accommodating more exhibitors, products, and technology showcases. IEML, with its vast understanding of organising international standard events like UPITS, UMIS, IHE, IFEX, Bharat tex, will infuse technology-based solutions to enhance the participation experience for exhibitors and visitors.

Joint marketing efforts will expand the event’s reach, attracting a more diverse and international audience of industry professionals.
