In its effort to back the garment manufacturers in the country, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka — the investment promotion agency in the island nation — is providing a funding of around US $ 49,000. The support is especially for the apparel makers in the northern region of Lanka.

It is being reported that six garment manufacturing companies, namely Omega Line, Hirdaramani Fashion, Hirdaramani Clothing, Timex Garments, MAS Active and MAS Intimates will be benefited from the financial aid.

As per the press statement issued by the Board of Investment, the amount will allow the companies, which employ around 4,000 work to operate on their potential.

“The BOI places high priority on investment in the North as this effort is more than just development and part of the process of strengthening inclusiveness and reconciliation in the country,” the release added.

Information on how the companies will use the amount is yet to be out in public.
