Remembering Mrithyunjay Amblimath: A Visionary Leader in Indian Fashion Retail

Mrithyunjay Amblimath

Mrithyunjay Amblimath, Chief Operating Officer of Bestseller India, has reportedly passed away in Bengaluru following a sudden cardiac arrest. He was with his family at the time of his untimely demise.

With a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades, Mr. Amblimath was a highly respected figure in India’s retail and fashion industry. Since joining Bestseller India in 2011, he played an instrumental role in the company’s phenomenal growth, helping shape its strategy, scale its operations, and steer its transformation into a prominent player in the Indian fashion landscape.

Under his stewardship, Bestseller India strengthened its presence with 362 exclusive brand outlets and over 1,793 shop-in-shops across the country. He was deeply involved in expanding the reach of Bestseller’s popular fashion brands such as JACK & JONES, VERO MODA, ONLY, SELECTED HOMME, JACK & JONES Junior, and VERO MODA GIRL.

Prior to his tenure at Bestseller, Amblimath headed retail and institutional business at Global Trends Ltd for more than 15 years. Throughout his career, he was admired for his strategic foresight, calm leadership style, and deep understanding of India’s dynamic retail market.

His legacy is not just in numbers, but in the trust he built, the teams he mentored, and the innovation he brought to fashion retail. His passing is a tremendous loss to the industry.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire Bestseller India team during this difficult time.
