Global fashion and lifestyle retail powerhouse Apparel Group has announced a strategic partnership to introduce Australia’s iconic brand Cotton On to the Indian market, marking a significant milestone in the country’s evolving retail landscape.
Under the agreement, Cotton On — one of Australia’s largest fashion and lifestyle labels — will enter India through a phased omnichannel rollout that includes a nationwide network of physical stores, a dedicated e-commerce platform, and placement on leading digital marketplaces. The move is designed to meet rising demand among India’s growing youth demographic for global fashion brands with lifestyle appeal.
The partnership combines Apparel Group’s deep local retail expertise, logistics capabilities, and distribution infrastructure with Cotton On’s relaxed, trend-driven “Aussie lifestyle” fashion. The simplified operating model focuses on core assortments to accelerate speed-to-market and streamline operations in the diverse Indian retail environment.
Strategic Growth in India’s Youth-Driven Market
Apparel Group India’s CEO, Abhishek Bajpai, highlighted India’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing markets for premium lifestyle brands. He noted a pronounced shift among younger consumers toward international styling and value-led fashion, making Cotton On a strong fit for this opportunity.
Michael Hardwick, CFO of Cotton On Group, echoed this sentiment, calling India an “incredibly exciting market” with a vibrant youth population and strong appetite for lifestyle fashion. He underscored the confidence in entering India via Apparel Group’s established retail presence.
Bianca Ginns, Managing Director of Cotton On Brands, described the expansion as a “significant new chapter” for the Australian label. She expressed enthusiasm about bringing the brand’s effortless, on-trend fashion to millions of Indian customers.
Tushar Ved, President of Apparel Group India, added that Cotton On’s arrival is not only a new brand entry but a strategic enhancement of Apparel Group’s role as a key gateway for global fashion giants entering India.
