HK garment manufacturer to invest US $ 20 Mn in India

World-class garment manufacturer, Epic Group, headquartered in Hong Kong, has already set up its manufacturing base outside the native land in, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Jordan and Ethiopia. The company is now foraying into India.

The plans are in place for Epic Group to invest US $ 20 million in the country. Media reports claim that the manufacturer eyeing a maiden manufacturing facility in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the garment manufacturing hub in India.

As reported by ETRetail, Ranjan Mahtani, Chairman and Group CEO states that the outlay will be made in the first two years to establish the unit, purchase of machinery & equipment, and training of the workforce.

It is also being said that the unit of Epic Group in Indian will be alike its smallest factory in Bangladesh.

The unit will have nearly 40 lines and generate direct employment for 4,000 people and indirect for 20,000. The company is optimistic of creating 20,000 direct jobs in the decade to come.

The Group has around 25,000 employees world over, manufacturing about 90 million garments every year.

In the early months, the garment manufacturer will produce 15 million pieces.

Epic Group currently exports garments to 47 countries, to global retailers like Walmart, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Levi’s, Uniqlo, H&M, Tesco, and more.
