GEMA: Working towards betterment of Industry

Garment Exporters and Manufacturers Association that has been working towards development of trade since its formation is quite focused towards its goals and achievements.

While speaking to Team Perfect Sourcing the Chairman Vijay Jindal shared its vision.

“Our focus is to work on areas like efficiency, cost saving in garment production,  offering skilled workforce to garment factories and organising workshops and training seminars, etc. We want our industry to grow and to achieve growth all these areas needs to be worked on.”

Since inception GEMA, is taking up issues of entire India with Government of India and various State Governments.
Keeping a constant vigil on the policies of the Government announced or modified from time to time and interacts with the Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, DGFT, Apparel Export Promotion Council and other concerned Central and State Government Organizations to seek necessary commercial and fiscal relief for the Garment Exporters.

“Our vision is to promote, support and assist Indian Garment Export Industry to enhance its competitive advantage and positioning in International market that provide assistance to Indian Garment Industry”, said Vijay Jindal.

He also mentioned that the biggest milestone for GEMA was attaining the changed RoSctl rates as they used to be a big challenge for garment  exporters. “We were regularly following up with the government to work in this aspect and GEMA did almost everything to get the rates  change.”
GEMA has recently expanded and has taken up a new office also in Gurgaon. In the upcoming Bharat Tex show GEMA has successfully sold more than 7000 Sqm of area. The members of the association are not only from Delhi-NCR but also from Southern and Western parts of India.
While highlighting the importance of GEMA as an association he highlighted that during Covid there was lot of tussle for release of funds and payments and GEMA as an association filed the case in high court and won that also.
“ We are very proactive towards the rights of our association members and will continue to do so in the coming times.”

Garments Exporters & Manufacturers Association is a not- for-profit organization registered under Section 8 of the Companies act. Established in 1975 with the main objective to promote and safeguard the interests of garment exporters, Garments Exporters & Manufacturers Association (GEMA) has completed about 44 years of useful existence and dedicated service, to Garment Exporting Community.
