Garment exporters in Noida can Restart Manufacturing

Hundreds of garment export units which were staring at uncertainties in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, would be able to resume operations within the next few days. Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday clarified that all kinds of export units which are registered with the MSME and Export Promotion Department shall be allowed to function.
The principal secretary of MSME and export promotion department, Navneet Sehgal, said, “I have forwarded the list of 611 registered garment exporters to Noida DM. Their applications shall be processed in a day or two. By Thursday evening, the Noida Authority had processed applications of more than 580 units and the Greater Noida Authority had approved 195 requests.
.

Confusion prevailed among exporters located out of Noida and Greater Noida, after ministry of home affairs order issued on May 1, allowed special economic zones (SEZs) and export oriented units (EOUs) to commence operations from May 4, during the third phase of lockdown Consequently, more than 600 exporters sent requests to Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority to grant them permission to resume work with minimal staff. However authority officials facilitated applications of only 100% export oriented units registered under Union ministry of commerce and industry. Only such applications were forwarded to Noida SEZ development commissioner for approval
