Strengthening Leadership with Global Brand Expertise
Chip Bergh, the former President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of lululemon athletica inc., effective immediately. The appointment underscores lululemon’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its board with experienced leaders capable of driving long-term growth and innovation.
With Bergh’s addition, lululemon has brought in five new independent directors over the past five years, reflecting the company’s commitment to regular board refreshment and governance enhancement.
According to Marti Morfitt, Executive Chair of lululemon’s Board, Bergh brings deep expertise in brand building, retail transformation, and value creation across global consumer brands.
“Chip Bergh is an industry leader with a proven record of guiding successful transformations and overseeing the growth of some of the world’s most iconic brands,” Morfitt said. “His extensive experience in brand and retail strategy will add significant value as lululemon continues to strengthen its foundation and deliver innovative products and experiences for guests worldwide.”
Bergh expressed enthusiasm about joining the board, highlighting lululemon’s strong brand identity and global presence in the athletic and lifestyle sector.
“lululemon has built one of the most distinctive brands in the industry, grounded in innovation, design, and strong connections with its communities around the world,” Bergh said. “I am honored to join the board at this pivotal time and look forward to working with fellow directors to advance the company’s strategic vision.”
Bergh will stand for election at lululemon’s 2026 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, replacing David Mussafer, who has decided not to seek re-election at the end of his current three-year term.
Morfitt also acknowledged Mussafer’s long association with the company, noting that he first joined the board in 2005 and served in several key roles, including Co-Chairman between 2014 and 2017. His contributions helped expand lululemon’s global footprint and strengthen the brand’s market position.
The appointment follows the board’s most recent skills assessment and forms part of lululemon’s broader governance strategy, which includes the ongoing search for the company’s next CEO and efforts to accelerate long-term sustainable growth and shareholder value creation.
