Trend Alert! Trousers Trends To Watch Out For

A pair of trousers has become the subtle everyday style statement for both men and women. The right pair can complement the other ensembles making a ‘look’ for the wearer or sabotage the entire look. 2019 has some continuing trends from the previous year and some from the past.

Being in the era of athleisure, sweatpants can be spotted in every corner. However, the laid back and sporty look of the article doesn’t quite fit the formal office look. To the rescue, the designers have come up with the tailored versions what can be worn at work and business meetings.

Pajama style pants are comfy and relaxed for weekends at lounge and they have also been styled up in the collections of Valentino, Manish Arora, H&M Studio, Stella McCartney, Contrfashion, Akris, Oak and others for the year. The looser cuts and more relaxed shapes have worked their way off the runways and on to store rails already.

The tailored trousers are one of the most beloved as it gives the perfect fit and formal look. The tailored formal trousers though rightly is of blue in colour, it’s not just about trying your hand at teal, burgundy or even pink but pattern too. In 2018, the varieties spurred by standout moves on the red carpet, but the payoff for early adopters will come this year.

If 2018 was the year designers got in touch with their feelings, the feeling of fabrics is going big in 2019. Fabrics like wool, fleece and shearling and the party season staples like velvet are going to be the adored ones.

Leather pants have been transformed from biker’s wardrobe must-haves to casual and elegant chic wardrobe essentials with the guideline of Louis Vuitton, VikaGazinskaya, Pirosmani, Ann Demeulemeester and Hermès.

Slim-fit and shortened 3/4 length pants are still on trend as seen in the collections from Saint Laurent, AlenaAkhmadullina, Givenchy and Walk of Shame.

Wide-leg trousers, bananas, breeches trousers, flares can be placed in one trend shown in the fall collections from Chanel, Leonard, Dsquared², Dimaneu, Balmain, Oak, Versace, Esteban Cortazar and Hermès.

The cuffed trousers will take up a lot of wardrobe as 2019 is in love with the bottom line of these pants. The beautiful creations in Paul & Joe, Christian Dior, Saint-Tokyo, Dsquared², Acne Studios, Chloé and other brands’ fall collections affirms the trends strongly.

Culottes may not seem wearable to all and even considered ugly, 2019 collections from Christian Dior, Sacai, Emma Cook, Chloé and VikaGazinskaya are something to look forward to for guidance of the trend.

Skatewear trousers have been one of the biggest risers in menswear over the past couple of seasons and are going strong for 2019. Brands like DC and Airwalk showcased the trend last year, while labels like Palace and Stussy continued to reign along with trends like tie-dye and cross-body bags, picking up pace with the durable trousers.

The seventies have been raving in menswear in one form or another for years and 2019’s fashion scenario is highly influenced entirely by the retro era.  That paints the picture of the corduroy trousers paired with suede jackets, retro trainers, roll necks, patterned knitwear and silk shirts galore.
