Fashion brand Alexander Wang CEO steps down

In the latest fashion industry update, Lisa Gersh is stepping down from her role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alexander Wang, an American fashion brand. She held the position at the brand for just over a year.

Gersh commenced her role as the brand’s CEO after designer Alexander Wang stepped down from the position himself in 2017 only. As part of the move to branch out the brand’s executive team, Gersh was set to helm the fashion brand as it expanded into what Wang called ‘new categories and territories’.

Formerly, Gersh served as the CEO of Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop from 2014 to 2016, besides serving as CEO and President of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a diversified media and merchandising company, from 2011 to 2013.

The exit of Gersh is the highlight of yet another change at Alexander Wang, which made waves in the industry with its decision to dump the fashion calendar earlier this year. The Spring/Summer 2019 assortment debuted in June, rather than the traditional September month.

Meanwhile, Alexander Wang continues to serve as the fashion brand’s Chairman and Creative Director. He will take up the CEO role again, but only until a replacement for Gersh is found.
