Heimtextil India Receives Positive Response

Heimtextil India, an annual event for all home textiles, handicrafts, home accessories recently concluded at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The exhibition has always been a good platform for manufacturers, retailers and designers around the world targeting the home decor segment.

The exhibition saw around 180 companies from six countries including top home fashion players such as D‘décor, Welspun, Reliance, Raymond, AWKenox Steel, Flair Houseware, Organic Home (Stonemen Crafts), Lifestyles 360 Degree, Gomaads among others showcased next season‘s interior decor and home textile collections at this co-located platform. With its wide range of product groups, Heimtextil provides exclusivity, structure and orientation for the Industry. A series of interactive knowledge-exchange programmes were also held concurrently.

The event was categorized in two parts; Home Furnishing & Home Decor which included product groups like The Bedroom- Bed linen, Bedroom products, Quilts and throws, Blankets and pillows, Bed fillings, Cushion covers Bath linen_ Terry goods and toweling, Shower curtains, Bath mats and carpets, Bathroom accessories and many more. Along with this a new category that caught everybody’s attention was window decorations and blinds.

The platinum partners of the show were The D’decor, an Indian brand that consists of a wide portfolio that comprises curtains, upholstery, embroidered fabric, yarn, ready-mades, velvets and wallpapers. Deepak R. Baheti, Asst Vice President- Business from D Decor said, “The response has been good, we were expecting new connections and more retailers. Currently, the market situation is good as in domestic market people are looking for luxury home furnishings and there is a good room for newer opportunities in the home furnishing retail market.” Organisations like National Textile Corporation Limited(NTC), country’s very own leading largest public sector , Lenzing Group which is world‘s leading fiber company, Premier Fine Linens, which provides with the finest sustainable bed linens, Aero Fibre, Rekoop from GHCL and many more showcased latest trends in home furnishing.

A lot of emphasis was seen in sustainable side as many companies like Premier Fine Linens, GHCL, NTC, Lenzing group and many other showcased variety and innovation in sustainable home furnishing. Rekoop a brand launched by GHCL highlighted how it is making amazing designs and quality in beddings from PET bottles. Premier Fine Linens came up with a wide range of beddings made from organic. The company reported a positive response at the exhibition.

Sustainability is redefined in three dimensions, raw material which is FSC and PFC certified, manufacturing process which involves the use of bio energy and thirdly complete traceability of the product by unique identification system. That is what makes ECOVERO™ different compared to the conventional viscose,” he added. Many companies from digital printing side also came up to show latest technologies for the home textile segment and reported a positive response. The organisers tied up with the Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations to display India’s heritage art and crafts. The specially curated COHANDS Pavilion brought together Padamshree & National Awardee Shri Jai Prakash Lakhwal, National Awardees Shri Vivekananda Bagchi, Ms. Sneh Gangal, Shri Devendra Kumar Jha and Shri Kamlesh Jangid & Shilp Guru Awardees Shri Har Krishan, Mohd Matloob and Shri Brahmdeo Ram Pandit just to name a few who showcased their strengths in traditional Indian handicrafts.

International speakers from France and Finland highlighted trends through co-relation with Indian design due to the growing influence of India through emergence of successful Indian designers and brands internationally Participation was also seen from Thailand where the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion and Federation of Thai Industries were looking at strengthening bilateral ties in the Indian home fashion space given the strong culture of design co-relation in both countries. Overall the show was rated to be good and received a positive response from exhibitors and visitors.
