Madura Coats is a 300 year old company that is into manufacturing of industrial threads for many industries. At the recently concluded exhibition Gartex, the company displayed sustainable product line called ‘Coats Epic EcoVerde’ a 100% recycled premium polyester core spun sewing thread that has been precisely engineered to create durable, attractive seams across a wide range of recycled fabrics and materials. From delicate silks and leisurewear to robust denims, Epic EcoVerde ensures an excellent stitch formation and seam appearance – even under the most demanding production line conditions. Balasubramanian R, National Sales Manager, Apparel & Footwear, Madura Coats PVT Ltd explains that it is the group’s contribution in creating environment friendly products that many brands have expressed interest in this product range.
Balasubramanian explains the USP and says, “See we invest a lot in innovation, engineering and coming out with new products. We are the first ones to launch recycled threads and moreover we are investing heavily in terms of sustainability.” He also mentioned that the demand is improving from India and though exports of footwear and apparels are declining, the domestic market is on upscale and can be expected to grow by 10%. At present the company has four factories in India and is still expanding.
Balasubramanian explains, “We have also invested in zero liquid discharge wherein we have reduced water consumption by 90% and 75 to 80% of energy that we use is coming from renewable sources.”
As far as the market situation is concerned, he said. “There has been a little disturbance after demonetisation and GST, the exports have declined and are expected to pick up only by 2020.” The company received a good response at the exhibition as they got the opportunity to explore new customers and got introduced to potential clients in the segment.
