John Lewis has announced the appointment of Anna Milne as its new Director of Merchandising, a freshly created role on the company’s management board — marking another significant step in the retailer’s ongoing leadership transformation.
Bringing nearly two decades of retail expertise, Milne has built an impressive career across some of the industry’s most dynamic fashion and lifestyle brands. Her previous roles include key merchandising positions at House of Fraser, ASOS, Jules B, and The Outnet, and most recently, she served as Merchandising Director at Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter for over three years.
The move comes as John Lewis continues to bolster its leadership team. Just last week, Helen Webb OBE was announced as the company’s new Chief People Officer, effective 24 November 2025. With more than 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles across retail and other sectors, Webb brings extensive expertise in people strategy, organisational development, and cultural transformation.
Part of the John Lewis Partnership, the UK’s largest employee-owned business, John Lewis operates 34 department stores nationwide alongside a strong online platform, while its sister brand Waitrose runs over 300 stores across the UK and Channel Islands. The Partnership’s unique co-ownership model ensures that all permanent employees — known as Partners — share in both the responsibilities and rewards of the company’s success.
With Milne’s appointment, John Lewis reinforces its commitment to elevating the retail experience, combining strategic leadership with the enduring values that have defined the brand for generations.
